The ESL 429 Series self-diagnostic, two-wire
smoke detectors continually monitor their own sensitivity
and operational status, and provide a visual trouble
indication if they drift out of sensitivity range or
fail internal diagnostics. This meets NFPA 72 field
sensitivity testing requirements without the need for
external meters. Additional diagnostic information is
activated by applying a magnet near the detector's
integral reed switch. This initiates a self-diagnostic
routine and provides visual indication of sensitivity
level, or if service is required. The 429 Series is
easily cleaned by simply replacing ESL's proprietary
field-replaceable optical chamber. All models are
designed to reduce false alarms from dust, insects,
RFI and external light. An integral combination
rate-of-rise and fixed 135°F (57°C), 50-foot rated,
heat sensor is available with all "T" model detectors
(see selection guide). An integrated silicon heat
sensor and a dedicated microprocessor are used to
detect heat and perform the rate of rise calculations,
for earlier heat detection.
The ESL 104 Series spot heat detectors offer rate-ofrise/
fixed temperature and fixed temperature only features for high
performance and reliability. The rate-ofrise feature detects
intense fires by quickly responding to rapid temperature
increases. The fixed temperature feature reacts to fires when
a specific temperature is reached. These high quality heat
detectors feature the ultimate in design and decor. The low
silhouette and white finish with most ceiling designs to make
the detector unobtrusive. Materials for the 104 Series heat
detector are carefully selected for strength, corrosion,
resistance and integrity at points of hermetic sealing. The
detectors require normal periodic testing and no field maintenance.
Rate-of-rise operation may be tested by applying heat from a
convenient heat source (e.g. a portable dryer).
The ESL 240-COe Alarm is the only industrial-grade Carbon
Monoxide (CO) alarm specifically developed for use in a monitored
home security system. The unit is designed to the same standards
as CO sensing systems used to protect workers in industrial plants
and hospitals. The ESL 240-COe alarm's high reliability makes it
an ideal solution for both residential and commercial life safety
systems.
The device has a low, 8mA current draw, virtually eliminating the
need for an additional power supply. Its contoured design and small
size allow it to blend well with many residential and commercial
environments.
The ESL 240-COe alarm operates on a unique industrial-grade
electrochemical sensor that continuously monitors for CO and
is unaffected by temperature variations. It self-adjusts for
temperature to operate accurately in most weather conditions
and also adjusts its sensitivity throughout its life to operate
continually at peak performance. The sensor communicates with
a sophisticated on-board microprocessor that accurately
calculates CO levels and exposure time. When compared to
other popular CO-sensing technologies, the ESL 240-COe alarm's
electrochemical technology offers better response time, quicker
reset time, and superior false alarm immunity.
The ESL 240-COe alarm meets UL 2075 and has been evaluated
to the CO alarm sensitivity limits of UL2034, which allows for
installation in a wide variety of applications.
